Pet lovers are celebrating as Italcol, a leading Colombian pet food manufacturer, has teamed up with dairy giant Alpina to launch Dog Yurt, a new line of topping-snacks designed specifically for dogs. This innovative product aims to combine nutritious ingredients with delightful flavors, catering to the dietary needs and tastes of canine companions.

Dog Yurt arrives in two varieties: Nutri-Bar and DelidogMix. Nutri-Bar is a snack-topping blend containing salmon, blueberries and a non-dairy liquid food enriched with probiotics. This mixture is water-based and designed for dogs of all breeds. As an extension of the snack bars offered by the brand, Nutri-Bar aims to enhance pet food with a treat that serves as a food topper.

DelidogMix, the second variant in the Dog Yurt line, includes chicken and wheat combined with a similar non-dairy, probiotic-rich liquid food. The base of both products is a non-dairy liquid that features free amino acids from meat sources, easily digestible starches, and a fortification of vitamins and minerals to provide a balanced nutritional profile and enhanced palatability. This launch is considered a significant innovation in the local pet treat market.

Blending dairy expertise with pet nutrition

According to Triplethree International, Italcol de Occidente ranks as the fifth-largest local pet food producer. Meanwhile, Colombia is a significant player in the Latin American pet food industry, with nearly half a million tons of pet food consumed in 2023. The country is home to an estimated 10 million dogs and cats, with pet food calorie penetration aligning with the regional average, except in cat food, where it falls below.

Dog Yurt not only introduces a novel product but also strengthens the collaboration between two industry leaders, combining Italcol's expertise in pet nutrition with Alpina's experience in dairy production to create a unique product tailored for dogs. This partnership highlights a growing trend in the pet care industry, where cross-sector collaborations and big brands merge to use their combined branding power to pave the way for innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of pet owners and their beloved animals.

With Dog Yurt, Italcol and Alpina are set to capture the attention of pet owners looking for nutritious, tasty and convenient options to enhance their dogs' diet.
