The US Food and Drug Administration renewed an agreement with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China to further cooperation between the US and China on food and animal feed safety. Originally signed in November 2008, the US and China have extended the agreement for five more years.
The agreement includes:
To be effective, probiotics must be live and viable
The question is whether they provide additional benefit to the dog or cat
It's the finishing touch that can meet both owner and pet needs.
The mid-year meeting addressed several regulatory matters affecting petfoods
It gives more direct control to CVM in establishing and maintaining ingredient definitions
Committees discussed key proposals such as a possible shift in the oversight of animal feeds
What you need to keep your manufacturing line clean, safe and contaminant-free
Processors should carefully develop, validate and implement an effective kill step to support production of pathogen-free petfoods
The new US food safety legislation will also affect regulation of petfood
