Bunge has expanded its portfolio to include pea and faba protein concentrates, complementing its soy protein concentrate offerings.

In collaboration with Golden Fields, a prominent agricultural company and key dry miller of pea and faba in Europe, Bunge aims to meet the rising demand for plant proteins beyond soy in the food, pet and feed segments. Golden Fields has constructed and will operate a new factory in Liepaja, Latvia, exclusively producing for Bunge.

Bunge’s new range of pea and faba protein concentrates offer several product attributes to enhance protein content while supporting non-GMO and allergen-free labeling.

  • Non-GMO
  • Light in color
  • Finely powdered
  • 55% to 70% protein content
  • Allergen-free

Bunge’s pea and faba protein concentrates also offer sustainability benefits. They are made from crops farmed using crop-rotation practices and extracted via dry-fractionation without the use of water or solvents, which are typically use in pulse protein production. The sourcing originates from a European network of local farmers across Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, minimizing the distance to the processing facility.

The addition of soy, pea, and faba protein concentrates enhances Bunge's existing portfolio of oils, fats, and lecithins, enabling customized solutions to meet a broad range of customer needs across food and feed sectors. For more information about Bunge’s portfolio, click here.
