PSC expanding its sustainability packaging efforts

New project will establish a nationwide collection program.

In 2020-2021, PSC pioneered the Flex Forward program, collecting 8,000+ pounds of post-consumer pet food packaging through a Return to Retail initiative in the Pacific Northwest. The bags were subjected to 17 recycling tests, and a pyrolysis partner achieved a 15% return rate of polyethylene with minimal contamination, surpassing expectations.

Now, with a successful pilot program complete, it is eager to expand its efforts across the United States. The Return to Retail project aims to establish a nationwide collection program for multi-layer, multi-material pet food and treat packaging at pet retail locations.
