The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) has launched a new Packaging Legislation Tracker on May 29, 2024, to assist companies in navigating the rapidly evolving packaging regulations. This tool provides detailed regulatory information for the US, Canada, EU, and UK, helping companies maintain cost efficiency and stay compliant.
The Packaging Legislation Tracker offers a comprehensive overview of the latest regulations, organized by region. It includes specific information about each regulation, its impact on operations and where to find more details. This free, publicly available tool enables companies to forecast potential cost increases and make preemptive adjustments to their packaging strategies.
Ali Boden, PSC’s senior packaging program manager, highlights the tool’s benefits: "This tool provides a comprehensive list of packaging-related regulations for the pet industry and can help companies piece together how it could apply to pet businesses and the type of packaging they work with. This streamlined approach means you spend less time researching and more time implementing strategic changes that help you reduce costs, stay ahead of compliance needs, and identify opportunities for sustainable growth."
The Tracker includes over 100 regulations from four key regions: the US (with state-by-state data), Canada, the UK, and the EU. The tool details the name of each regulation, its purpose and type, enactment and enforcement dates, on-pack labeling implications, the type of business/sector impacted, the material class affected, and where to find more information. The data is sortable and filterable, making it easy for businesses to find relevant information. The Tracker will be updated biannually to remain current and will expand to include non-EU countries, Australia and New Zealand later this year.
