VAFO Group, a leading European producer of superpremium pet foods, has successfully completed the acquisition of Dagsmark Petfood, a Finnish company specializing in wet pet food production. The strategic move positions VAFO as the clear leader in the pet food market within the Nordic countries.
Dagsmark Petfood, established in 2016 and known for its wet pet food products, will continue its operations under VAFO Group while retaining its existing workforce. The acquisition includes Dagsmark’s production facility in Mellilä, contributing to VAFO Group's expansion in the Finnish market.
In Finland, VAFO Group is represented by its subsidiary, Prima Pet Premium, known for producing the best-selling pet food in the local market, Hau-Hau Champion. The recent acquisition of Dagsmark complements VAFO's portfolio, creating opportunities for further expansion into other Nordic markets.
Timo Pärssinen, CEO of Prima Pet Premium, expressed the strategic importance of the acquisition: "Together with the wet food production of Dagsmark, we will strengthen our position, but it also creates opportunities to expand into other Nordic markets."
Dagsmark Petfood's expertise in wet food production aligns with VAFO's commitment to locally sourcing and crafting premium pet food for regional markets. The acquisition provides Dagsmark with additional resources and expertise for further development, according to Riikka Koskenohi, CEO of Dagsmark Petfood.
The products of Dagsmark, which include dry and wet pet foods and treats for dogs and cats, will remain unchanged, emphasizing the utilization of local ingredients. Petr Kříž, chairman of the board of Dagsmark and head of M&A at VAFO Group, highlighted the significance of Dagsmark's expertise: "Dagsmark, with its expertise in wet food production, aligns perfectly with our vision."
