NARA president attends summit

Kent Swisher spoke about nutrient repurposing.

NARA's President & CEO, Kent Swisher, emphasized the importance of carbon recycling and nutrient capture during his appearance at the Agri-Pulse Ag & Food Policy Summit. He highlighted the longstanding practice of nutrient repurposing by renderers since the 1800s.

Swisher joined a distinguished panel including Janicki, Sedron Technologies' chief revenue officer, Samuel Liebl, Denali's director of sustainability and communications, and Scott Kalb, KLTI Advisors' co-founder and chairman. The discussion focused on the role of policy clarity in fostering innovation and success for agri-businesses engaged in waste transformation.

Panelists stressed the necessity of equitable policies, avoiding favoritism, and adopting a technology-neutral approach to support diverse industries striving for carbon emission reduction and food waste mitigation. Swisher urged for a collaborative effort across sectors to achieve climate action objectives.

The summit, themed "Revitalizing Rural Revenues," featured prominent figures like U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Senate agricultural committee chairwoman Debbie Stabenow, and Senate agricultural committee ranking member John Boozman. It showcased innovative strategies and products emerging from rural America, highlighting the creativity and entrepreneurship within these communities.
